As you could you see yesterday, I started to sew for my kitchen and of course that includes also some new tea towels. Fortunately, I got a lot of old fabrics from my grandmother which you couldn´t buy these days and which have a very good quality. After some deliberation, I decided on a classic pattern that fits well with the country style of my kitchen.
Of course, I’ve also designed a sewing pattern for you and an awkward sewing tutorial.
After I had cut my fabric according to the pattern, I folded the long sides of the tea towel twice inwards (0,4 inch) and sewed them with a straight stitch.
Now you have to do the exact same thing with the lateral sides of the fabric…
… and everything that is left is to sew the loop. For this, I folded the little stripe of fabric as bias tape and then again folded it lengthwise and sewed it together.
As it should be, I sewed the loop at the center of a lateral side but before I folded both ends of the loop to the inside under the rim seam. And that’s it. Tea towels are definitely in my top 5 of easy-peasy sewing!
