A few weeks ago I have built a floating book wall for my modest library (HERE). But since I also have a few smaller books which were not practical for the book wall, I immediately continued with the next shelf project and built a new home for my mini-books.
Material
An Ivar shelving board or other wood
a wide suede belt
Step 1
First I drew the outline of my new shelf on the Ivar shelving and sawed the board.
Step 2
In order to create a nice contrast to the leather, I have painted the wood light gray.
Step 3
Of course it is best, if you have two identical belts to hang the shelf. Instead, you can also halve a wide belt and that is what I did.
Step 4
Now You just have to cut small holes into the leather at both ends of the belt …
Step 5
… and hang the wood board in the leather straps. As long as you don´t place heavy items on the shelf, you can attach it directly to the wall with screws and admire your work.
