Every hobby seamster and seamstress knows it: The fabric scraps trap. You sew something beautiful and almost every time there is a bit of fabric left. Pragmatic people would just throw these pieces of scrap fabric away and continue to live carefree. But wait! Creative hobby sewers are not famous for their pragmatism. Our species is characterized by many good qualities but the ability to simply throw away fabric without developing a nervous disorder is not one of them. So we hoard every little scrap of fabric and every few months we unpack our five tons of accumulated scrap fabric, sew a few small handkerchief pouches (which nobody needs and wants) and pat ourselves proudly on the back, because we were so wise to have kept the fabric and then we put the remaining 4.99999 tons of material back into the closet.
Ladies and gentleman, it’s time that we work more with our scraps of fabric and sew things that we or others can really use and which are an asset to our apartments! I am starting today and that is why I have compiled here a couple of projects that promise to leave a void in any fabric scraps collection.
